David Beckham stole the limelight on the final day of the January transfer window yesterday when he moved to Paris Saint-Germain. The former England captain, who was a free agent after leaving the Los Angeles Galaxy and Major League Soccer in November, has signed a five-month deal and will donate his salary — estimated to be about £2 million — to a children’s charity in Paris. Peter Odemwingie was at the centre of a bizarre misunderstanding as the deadline day transfer that he had hoped to force from West Bromwich Albion to Queens Park Rangers fell apart. When he turned up at Loftus Road expecting to sign, he was barred from the stadium. (The Guardian)

Arsenal have completed the £8.5 million signing of Nacho Monreal, a Spain international left-back whose arrival signals the end of Andre Santos’s first-team career. (The Telegraph)

Stoke have signed USA winger Brek Shea from FC Dallas. The Potters also completed the signing of England international goalkeeper Jack Butland from Birmingham. The club accepted a £4m bid from the Potters for the 19-year-old, with the keeper set to stay at Birmingham on loan until the end of the season. (Express)

Lionel Messi launched into an astonishing rant at Real Madrid right back Alvaro Arbeloa after Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw by their bitter rivals at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night, according to reports in Spain. (Daily Mail)

Luis Suarez says he will not quit Liverpool if they fail to make the Champions League — because he is already living the dream. (The Sun)

Jenson Button took one look at his new car yesterday and roared: “I have the best chance of my career to be champion”. The 33-year-old was bubbling with confidence he can become a two-time champion after unveiling McLaren’s new charger in Woking. And he said it was not because he has rookie Sergio Perez, 23, stepping into Lewis Hamilton’s shoes. (The Mirror)
