Ifield sign new Indian Guru as their overseas star and appoint Groves as first team captain

Ifield Cricket Club welcomes Guru Kedarnath, known as Kedar, as their overseas player for the 2015 season.

Kedar, 28, is a middle order batsman and off-spinner from Chennai, India who has played state cricket for Tamil Nadu.

For the past three seasons he has played cricket in Geelong, Australia.

In addition to his outstanding playing ability Kedar also brings considerable coaching experience and skills to the club at both senior and junior levels.

This year sees a new 1st X1 captain for the club in 20 year old Jack Groves.

Jack has been a part of the first team since he was 14 and is looking forward to the challenge of leading a team of both experienced and younger players.

The club have strengthened over the winter and have recruited a number of new players at all levels but are particularly pleased to welcome back Ifield old boys Joe Cooke and Jigar Parekh who will strengthen the batting and bowling respectively.

Ifield kick-off their new campaign with a 20/20 Cup game against Keymer and Hassocks at Ifield Green on Saturday at 3.30pm and then commence their Sussex League season the following week with a home fixture against Worthing.
