Anvils find Brickies tough to crack

By Mike May

Crawley Down could have no complaints with this result as they were outplayed throughout the match by a useful looking Sittingbourne outfit.

Brickies wingmen Joe Taylor and Hitcham Ackhazzan ran amok through a hesitant Anvil rearguard, the only surprise was it took them 40 minutes to open the scoring, Nick Davies giving the visitors a 1-0 half time lead.

Anvils in comparison were poor throughout with only Fraser Logan and the pacy Charlie Slocombe showing any fight. Gone was the midfield play of last week, instead the hosts had the route one version that was soon gobbled up by the Brickies defence, and to compound matters even further Steve Sargent was sent off on 44 minutes.

Anvils showed more fight after the break, but to no avail as the visitors shut up shop, and allowed themselves two further goals through Ryan Golding on 48 minutes and Man of the match Joe Taylor on 74 minutes, whilst for the hosts Logan continued to wage a one man war against the men of Kent.

After their recent revival Anvils showed their other side in a disjointed performance lacking in flair.

Anvils: Di Bernardo, Slocombe, Mitchell, Graves, Donaghy, Page, Sargent, Odunaike (Tarrant), Sigere, Blewden (Hollyoak), Logan. MOM: Fraser Logan
