Bridges slip up at Folkestone

Three Bridges fell to second to bottom in the Ryman South table when they let slip a first half lead before losing 3-1 away to Folkestone Invicta.
Jamie O’Hara opened the scoring for Bridges in superb style when he finished a fine run towards goal to head in a brilliant ball played through by Tim Rivers.
The game turned two minutes before half-time when Dean Carden gave a away a penalty with a foul on Josh Burchell and the league’s topscorer Stuart King equalised with a powerful kick from the penalty spot.
Folkestone then made it 2-1 going into half-time headed in at the near post by King.
Bridges mustered a couple of efforts on goal during the second half and threatened to score but it was Folkestone who had the last laugh with four minutes to go as King completed his hat-trick with a chip over the head of keeper Alan Mansfield in a move down the right which looked to be offside.
Bridges manager Paul Faili said: “We gave ourselves too much to do, We didn’t play the football we can in the first half. After we scored we relaxed a bit. We started to go into long mode when we didn’t need to drop too deep. When you’re down the bottom you’ve got to make it happen and create the opportunities through workrate. “In the second half pushed on and looked good I thought it was always coming.
“To concede a third goal that poorly through a shocking decision which was three or four yards offside and that stabbed us up the back. The linesman knows that was a bad decision. We shouldn’t be leaving it until the second half to try and win games. We’ve got to be consistent over 90 minutes.”
