Crawley Town goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has been selected to play for England.
He has been named in Aidy Boothroyd’s 20-man squad to play in two warm-up games for the European Under-19s Championships.
They will be playing two away matches against Germany on Friday September 4 and Croatia on Monday, September 7.
Woodman is on loan at Crawley from Newcastle United to gain first team experience.
He will not actually miss a Crawley match as their fixture which was due to be played at Notts County on September 5 has already been called off.
Crawley Town boss Mark Yates said: “It’s great for Freddie himself to be in that set-up and it’s great for us as a club to be part of that.
He’s stood the test really well. He’s got more and more confident and he’s given more and more confidence to the players in front of him and that’s resulted in to really good two clean sheets.”Crawley Town manager Mark Yates
“We knew he was going to be in England squads for sure, it was just a case of which one.
“Hopefully he doesn’t miss games. Already having only played five games you can see he is maturing and there has been a realisation of what its about.
