Crawley Town manager Mark Yates is eyeing up a former Liverpool midfielder with a view to signing for next season.

Yolany Baio played 30 minutes of Reds’ friendly match against Portsmouth, which they lost 3-2 on Tuesday, along with three other triallists.

Baio never made a first team appearance in his three years at Anfield which he left in 2014.

Now aged 21, he has played internationally for both Portugal Under-18s and Guinea-Bissau.

More recently in 2015 he played in the second tier of the Dutch league for Sparta Rotterdam.

Yates said: “We are having a look at some triallists and having some games over the next six weeks of the season with a view to the immediate and to next season.

“He (Baio) came on as sub for the last half an hour and he’s been here before and he’s done alright.

“It won’t be done this season but we are looking for beyond.

“We are looking for a group that can give us some youth and some legs and we will see what comes out there.”
