CRAWLEY Town manager Steve Evans wants the fans to back the team in their numbers when they take on Aldershot at Broadfield Stadium tomorrow night.

This local derby battle has extra importance because it is one of the team’s games in hand and victory would put them in touch with the promotion spots.

He is trying to calm unrest among supporters who in the last few weeks have seen the club sell its best two players, Matt Tubbs and Tyrone Barnett and have failed to win a game since.

Evans said: “Tuesday night is a massive game for us but then again so is every match we play between now and the end of the season.

“This is one of our games in hand over our promotion rivals and therefore has added significance.

“The table shows that victory will take us within three points of the automatic promotion places and we should be a further two matches in hand.

“We are very much in the fight for promotion.

“We travel up and down the country on the team coach on the way home we seem to talk about our opponents having a 12th man with their supporters.

“The likes of Southend, Shrewsbury and Swindon come immediately to mind.

“This is the time that we need our supporters to turn up in good voice and help us by being our 12th man.

“I can say now that only by being together can we win promotion to League 1.”
