FA CUP 5TH ROUND DRAW: ‘We could beat Stoke’ chairman Vic Marley

REDS chairman Vic Marley believes Crawley could beat Stoke City if they make the most of their home advantage.

The Town chief respects what the Potters have achieved in the last few years which has included reaching last season’s FA Cup final at Wembley against Manchester City.

He said: “Stoke City are one of the success stories of the last five years. They came out of the Championship and into the Premier League.

“They’re a big strong side with big players and you can liken them to us. They have a really strong defence and it’s not just about size as Peter Crouch is a quality player.

“I’m not saying it’s going to be easy. But they will be away from home and they’re not used to playing in tight stadiums.

“If we play to our strengths we always have a chance.

“Against Hull in the first 20 minutes they didn’t hurt us and we were waiting for Hull to do something.

“There were some marvellous performances out there. The defence was brilliant with Pablo Mills and Claude Davis - they all played a part.

The pressure was put on Hull by never letting them settle on the ball.

We have now reached the Fifth Round for the second time in two years and before that we had reached the Third Round once, so it shows how far we have come.”
