On Crawley supporters Facebook page Crawley Town 4 Life, Steve Herbert commented "Interesting choice, let's just hope he manages as well as he plays! Results will determine his fate. Let's get behind him from the start and give Harry the backing he needs! COYR"

Kewell had been recently sacked as Watford under-23s manager and Ben Blackmore hopes his previous job isn't a sign of things to come, saying: "Will be fully behind him. Massive risk for me, sacked at under-23 level recently, whereas Dermot was proven at that level. By no means writing him off btw and will be behind the Australian revolution."

Peter Bellamy was looking forward to attacking football coming to Broadfield adding "Based on his record at Watford last season we should be guaranteed goals in our games."

Mitch Moylan tweeted: "Harry Kewell is the manager of my football club. I never thought I'd say that."

Lewis Wright tweeted: ""Harry Kewell named as new @crawleytown head coach. Get exciting Reds fans, he coached a Watford U23 team that #itfc defeated 8-0 this season."

An interview Kewell gave with the Austaralian FourFourTwo magazine was posted on the forum where Kewell himself states, "I may be a great coach, I may be a great assistant coach, I may be a great under-23's coach or it may be I'm great at academy level, I don't know."

Regarding Kewell's quotes, Connor McGinty says ""I may be a great coach" last thing we need is someone who hasn't got confidence in themselves which could transfer onto the players but hopefully this changes"
