Hill too steep for Bridges to climb

Midfielder Lee Carney hopes the injury to the same leg he broke back in March isn’t too serious.

In what was supposed to be a celebration of his 100th Bridges appearance, Carney lasted only a quarter of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at local rivals Burgess Hill.

But afterwards an upbeat Carney said: “There was no foul, I just landed awkwardly as I tried to gain possession.

“I’m going to the hospital now but I’m hopeful that it’s just a knock that will only keep me out for a couple of weeks.”

The defeat, Bridges’ 11th from 17 league games keeps them a point off the bottom.
