Hunt suffers serious wound after Delap challenge
CRAWLEY’S David Hunt sustained a four inch gash to his foot in the challenge which saw Rory Delap sent off in their FA Cup Fifth Round defeat to Stoke City yesterday.
The pair thundered into a tackle in the 17th minute of yesterday’s televised cup tie, and Hunt camne off second best, prompting referee Mike Jones to show Delap a straight red, on the advice of fourth official lee probert.
Reds boss Steve Evans said: “Hunt has a four inch gash from the challenge that says it all, I don’t think for one minute Rory means to tackle David that way but the reality is if you are off the ground then there’s a problem.
“Two years ago it was not a sending off but I think the directive has changed. The television replays are quite conclusive.”
