Crawley Down Gatwick could be playing as many as eight games in February as the fixture backlog takes effect.

Their postponement on Saturday of their home game against Chipstead was unwelcome news for Anvils’ boss John Maggs as it breaks up a superb unbeaten run he was keen to continue.

With only one league defeat coming from their las eight matches, Crawley Down are now up to fifth in the Ryman League South and if they can keep their run going will be vying for a play-off place.

Maggs is keen to play this Saturday’s away game at midtable Folkestone Invicta followed by the big one away against joint leaders Dulwich Hamlet on Tuesday.

He said: “Any little knocks or twinges we have had have cleared up and there will be no excuses. Folkestone are a decent side but we are on a very good run at the moment.

“Training is difficult - we couldn’t train on Tuesday so we are hoping for Thursday.”
