New signing Romone McCrea wants to bring his experience at higher levels to Jubilee Field to help Bridges avoid thre drop.

The former Crawley Town academy star has played twice in the Championship for Peterborough after being sold along with Danny Mills in a big money deal between the Reds’ Steve Evans and the Posh’s Barry Fry.

Two years at the club which included a loan spell at Histon were followed by spells at Sutton Utd in the Conference South and most recently at Ryman Premier Division leaders Whitehawk

McCrea, 22, is looking forward to the challenge of helping Bridges raise themselves up from the bottom of the Ryman League South.

Following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat he made his first start since joining the club, he said: “This level isn’t much different from the league above - it’s still a good level. We have been unlucky with our result in both matches I have have played in, both against Faversham which was decided by a penalty and against Walton Casuals which we led 2-0 at half-time. Their keeper (Simon Overland) was in form today. The team chemisty on and off the pitch is fantastic.

“It was only a penalty between the two sides and in the second half we were on top for the whole of the 45 minutes.

“Everyone’s linking up well and encoraging each other if we make mistakes. Hopefully our results will change!

Playing in the Championship was a good experience, with players like Craig Mackail-Smith, Lee Tomlin and George Boyd. I hope some of that pedigree will come with me to Bridges and also that I can learn from the older players here too.”
