Three Bridges 1 Guernsey 2
Bridges were cruelly robbed of the point that was the least they deserved when Guernsey skipper SAM COCHRANE stooped to head home as an injury time corner came his way.
Carney saw a solid effort knocked wide by a defender as Bridges went for the winner, but just as referee signalled three minutes of additional time, Guernsey won a corner and Bridges were cruelly robbed by Cochrane’s winner.”Three Bridges press officer Alf Blackler
Bridges wasted so many chances in an often exciting game with Tony Garrid testing Chrus Tardif with an early low drive, Sam MacVicar seeing a shot comfortably held and a good one-two between the excellent Lee Carney and MacVicar being smothered at the last moment.
The almost faultless Matt Whitehead then provided a great long ball which MacVicar met powerfully but shot wide of the near post, and finally Callum Donaghey saw a header go close. But the visitors responded with Ryan Zico-Black firing just wide after a neat lay off by Matt Loaring, whilst the usually deadly Riss Allen shot horribly wide after being set up by Jamie Dodd.
But after 34 minutes trickery by Loaring on the left set up DOMINIC HEAUME for a clinical finish at the near post.
The second half started with MacVicar heading against the crossbar from Garrod’s pinpoint cross, whilst Kieron Thorp was forced to a great save from Heaume’s header from Zico-Black’s corner. Garrod saw a drive well held and MacVicar headed just wide from Carney’s cross.
On the hour great work by Ben Godfrey finished with Carney crossing and Garrod heading wide, and the Bridges faithful were beginning to wonder if their team would ever score.
Dave Rihoy saw a drive well held as Guernsey briefly threatened, but on 69 minutes Garrod sent Matt Daniel clear on the left, and his low cross was nudged on by MacVicar fir GODFREY to net from close range.
Tardif made a brilliant block to deny Garrod and Carney saw a solid effort knocked wide by a defender as Bridges went for the winner, but just as referee signalled three minutes of additional time, Guernsey won a corner and Bridges were cruelly robbed by Cochrane’s winner.
