LIVE: Hayes & Yeading Utd 2 Crawley Town 1
CRAWLEY Town failed to take advantage of playing some quality football and despite being on top for much of the game ended up losing 2-1 away to Hayes & Yeading Utd.
Crawley made a great start to the game and should have been a couple of goals up at least in the first half hour after Calum Willock was twice denied by blocks by goalkeeper Simon Overland when through on goal.
Hayes took the lead against the run of play when Sean Canham headed into the net from a corner, as Simon Rayner missed the ball with a punch.
However Crawley hit back in perfect style with an equaliser just two minutes later when Ben Smith made sure with a well-taken follow-up after an initial shot by the in-form Barry Cogan was saved by Overland.
Town suffered a set-back just three minutes after the break when Cogan, who played an influential role in the first half in the first half, was sent-off for a lunge on an opponent.
However the match turned on a terrible penalty decision by the referee when Adam Quinn was adjudged to have committed a foul in the area and Cannon had the simple task of calmly putting away the winner from the penatly spot.

90mins+2 - Adam Quinn goes inches wide of the bar when he gets forward to meet a cross with a header.
88mins - Crawley have a decent chance to get their ealiser when a corner from the right eventually finds Simon Rusk outside the area and he launches a big shot which flies narrowly over the crossbar.
80mins - SUB (Crawley) Lewis Killeen replaces Calum Willock and plays on the left of midfield. Malcolm is now partnering Smith upfront.
73mins - GOAL (Hayes) 2-1 Sean CANNON scores from the penalty spot after Crawley skipper Adam Quinn is booked for a challenge on James Mulley. This loked like a poor decision because Quinn appeared to kick the ball rather than the player.
65mins - SUB (Hayes) Dale Binns replaces Toby Little.
54mins - Crawley mount a decent move with Nalcolm teeing up Adam Quinn with a cross from the left which heads firmly wide.
58mins - SUB (Crawley) Simon Rusk replaces Chris Giles and is playing in midfield. It looks like they are switching to 3-4-2.
57mins - James has a shot for hayes which is deflected and rolls to Rayner.
55mins - SUB (Hayes) Ram Marwa replaces Scott Fitzgerald.
53mins - Mlacolm has switched wings to the right and Glenn Wilson is now playing as a wing-back on the right to add strnght to the midfield.
48mins - RED CARD (Crawley) Reds are reduced to 10 men after Barry Cogan is sent-off with a straight red card for a late challenge on Hayes' Edmond James.
2nd half:
Crawley went into the interval still on level terms but must be ruing the missed chances they had in the first half hour which should have given them the lead.

42mins - Hayes' Scott Fitzgerald had a shot comfortably saved by Simon Rayner.
34mins - GOAL (Crawley) 1-1 Ben SMITH equalises immediately for the Reds when he finishes off an attack, burying the ball into the net on the rebound after the in-form Barry Cogan capitalised on a mistake by defender Adam Green and saw his initial shot saved by keeper Overland.
32mins - GOAL (Hayes) 1-0 Sean CANHAM puts the home side in the lead against the run of play with a header following a corner kick from the left.
Simon Rayner came out to punch the ball clear from the set-piece but missed it and hit Scott Fitzgerald instead, offering Canham the chance to head home from two yards.
30mins - Esmond James has the first effort on goal for Hayes with a curling left-footed shot from just outside the penalty area which flies wide of the left post.
17mins - Good counter-attack by Crawley which is stopped by a superb challenge by Adam Green on Mikey Malcolm. Reds are showing good pace in their attack.
9mins - Willock is through from a ball through the middle by Ben Smith but is denied by keeper Overland, who smothered the ball at his feet. Great chance.
9mins - Chris Giles escapes an appeal for a free-kick after he barged a Hayes opponent who was about to break through into the penalty area.
2mins - Crawley should have taken the lead but for great goalkeeping by Simon Overland who denies Calum Willock with a block.
UPDATES:
Crawley boss Steve Evans made two changes to the side which lost 2-0 at home to Mansfield last week.
Mikey Malcolm comes in for the injured Danny Forrest. Ben Smith is playing up front with striker Calum Willock.
Eddie Hutchinson is preferred to Simon Rusk and is playing in central midfield, allowing Glenn Wilson to switch from midfield to right-back.
