Crawley Judo Club recently held a Judo fitness course designed for working with junior judo players.
The course covered the current judo fitness award with the focus being on the long term player development of younger players.
The coaches and instructors practised how to teach these skills at a relevant level.
With these fundamental skills in place the players will then be able to perform more efficiently, technically and competitively in judo from grass roots to future elite level.
The course was run by British Judo Association technical officer and sixth dan Dave Southby and BJA technical officer and Great Britain international Sam Dunkly who is a strength and conditioning expert.
Club coach Juliette Aubrey-Smith said: “The feedback we had was really positive and enjoyable. Every year we have to revalidate our coaching awards and this is a course which is being rolled out throughout the country. It was fun and engaging”.
