A great week for Grattons mixed team.
On Saturday they were home to local rivals Felbridge B.C. Grattons were up against the wall at half time, Felbridge had pulled out all the stops and were three shots up. They say it all changes after tea and it did this time. Grattons quickly came back to take the lead and finally end up winners 145-111. Top rink Valerie Middleton, Mike Dormer, Bert Smith and skip Den Hammond. Captain Kim said “ A great start to the weekend, everyone had a good afternoon”. Sunday and Grattons had another local derby against outdoor club Crawley Town. Grattons quickly showed they were determined to win this game. By tea they had built a lead of 49 shots. They continued to build on the first half lead and took the game 187-99. top rink Den Hammond, Elizabeth Robinson, Teresa Stannard, and skip Mike Beesley (pictured). Captain Kim said “ A lot of Crawley Town members are also members of Grattons so this can be a tough game”. The Ladies played a County League game on Tuesday at home against Horsham and District.
This was a close encounter with the score a draw at 73 each. Unfortunately, Horsham had won one rink more than Grattons so claimed victory. Top rink Caroline Keay, Pat Mullis, June Marchant and skip Linda Whinder. The mixed team were back on the carpet on Wednesday against Shopland Select who play to raise money for various charities. Grattons were still on a high from the weekend and built a first half lead of 26 shots and went on to win the game 173-90. Top rink Derek Marchant, Pat King, Bernie Holt and skip Roger Buckland. Captain Kim said, “Another enjoyable game and a great way to finish the first half of the season. Three wins from three games”
