Lasis brothers gain doubles for jubilant Crawley AC

Crawley AC’s men were third in the British Athletics League Division 2 match on Saturday at Watford.

They finished behind Harrow and TVH.

The Lasis brothers recorded a double victory in the hammer.

Matt won the ‘A’ with 62.35m just shy of his club record and James took the B string win with 53.21m.

The brothers continued their dominant form in the discus and again pulled off a double victory. James produced a huge 47.07m throw to win the A string.

Matt continued his fine form with a new personal best of 42.19m to take the B string win.

Leigh Walker was in great form in the pole vault soaring over 4.40m to secure a second.

Under-20 athlete Scott Devlin took the B string win with a new personal best of 4.20m, gaining an English Schools qualification standard.

GB decathlete Richard Reeks gained great points in his three events. He cleared 1.90m in the high jump followed by a 110m high hurdles in 14.87sec. Reeks then threw an impressive 48.96m javelin throw to finish third.

Jason Hussain secured great points with a 10.77sec 100m to finish second. Likewise Stefan Mitchell matched the same position in the B with an 11.03secseason’s best performance. The next fixture at Derby is on Saturday, July 11.

Crawley AC ladies were also third at Bedford and are still top of the UK Women’s League with one more fixture remaining in Glasgow on Sunday, August 9.
