MARTIAL ARTS: SKF stars claim treble gold at British Championships

Competitors from SKF (Sports Karate Federation) martial arts club based in Broadfield chose a totally different way to spend Valentine’s Day this year.

They attended WAKO (World Association of Kickboxing Organisations) British Kickboxing Championship in Birmingham on the 14 & 15 February.

The chief instructor and head of SKF, Jacey ‘2fast4u’ Cashman won gold in his weight category, points fighting.”

The SKF Wolf Pack team fielded 12 adult and junior Kickboxing fighters who all fought hard to finish on the podium and bring trophies back to Crawley.

The SKF Wolf Pack demonstrated a high level of fitness both mentally and physically.

The chief instructor and head of SKF, Jacey ‘2fast4u’ Cashman won gold in his weight category, points fighting.

Experienced GB team member and SKF instructor Sean McCarthy won gold in both continuous and points in his weight category. Sam Sparks won gold in points in his category as well.

Podium places where also hotly contended and won by Miles Bay (2nd), Gemma Upfold (3rd) Josh Horn (Junior 3rd) and Carla Tsoungui (2nd).

Kickboxing is one of the youngest martial arts systems and one of the fastest growing. It has been in existence since the early 1960s.

Its conception came about because of the desire of martial artists to test their skills against each other in a safe and controlled environment.

Medallists in each category are automatically selected to trial at the WAKO GB Squad trainings when the Great Britain teams are selected to represent our country.
