Crawley 34 Bognor 15
Crawley’s captain Craig Mansfield struck first shortly from the kick-off, with Fraser Thompson chasing a clever kick from Kristian Dean and touching down between the posts then converting within the first three minutes.
Despite losing scrum half Harry Brand to an ankle injury early on, Crawley looked sharp and completed their dominant first half with further tries from Coby Coy, Lucas Black, and a second from Thompson.
Crawley looking to expand depth in their squad rang the changes at half-time, but decided to continue their unfavourable habit of starting the second half slowly.
Bognor improved after the break and showed some great individual running whilst supporting forwards added to their attack and all round game play.
Crawley were under the cosh, the continued pressure bought Crawley two yellow cards, and while the defence worked hard, Bognor were rewarded with three tries for their efforts.
Crawley were not completely outplayed in attack though and responded with Hallam Potts’ first try of the season and James Bishop crossing the whitewash, in a very hard fought second half.
