Allam and Rooke earn double joy

SWIMMING: Crawley’s swimmers again came out on top in their latest Sussex League gala, finishing ten points ahead of Haywards Heath and Marlins with Worthing cut adrift in third place.

In the senior events Mai Allam and Tom Rooke led the field in their events, both notching double victories in breaststroke and four stroke medley.

The locals welcomed back Adam Harrington, who recently competed in the British Championships at the new olympic pool, and had no problems touching first at backstroke, butterfly, and medley.

In the younger age groups there were breaststroke and freestyle wins for Alex Sypher and Lucie Street with Sypher adding a third success in butterfly.

Luke Elliman and Zara Williams each won twice at butterfly and freestyle, Daisy Marchant took maximum points in backstroke and freestyle, while Emma Eades in breaststroke and Jade Hand at butterfly also came home in front. In an exciting climax the gala victory was secures by the whole squad, in a series of great relay wins over the age-groups.
