Bruce Barnett bagged the majority of the prizes at the Crawloey Angling Society annual awards night.

He walked away with a wheelbarrowful of triophies, including the main ones, the Transport Trophy and the Thames Trophy at the club’s AGM held at Crawley Rugby Club in Ifield.

Barnett, who is the club’s treasurer, also won the John Rice Memorial Trophy and the Milton Mount Trophy.

Phil ‘Bomber’ Harris was not present to pick up his prizes. But as usual he also won a massive haul, including the Championship Cup, which he has now won seven times in total and remarkably the last six years in a row.

Club chairman Lenny Wells also enjoyed a great year, proudly winning the Couples Trophy with his granddaughter Sacha.

Gary Toland won the Newpond Trophy at the club’s jewel in its crown in Pease Pottage.

Lenny gave his thanks to the sponsors who supported the club over the last 12 months, without whom they would not be able to survive.

They include: Steve Muggridge, the owner of Jack Frost Tackle and Paul Maloney who runs the Carp Shop in Horley.

Other major players for the club include John Parker of the Tackle warehouse in Manor Royal, who have continued their support over recent years.

Lenny added: “I would like to thank all our sponsors and also my excellent committee and bailiffs.”

Anyone wanting to take up fishing in a well-ru, friendly club should contact Lenny on 01293 423136 or on 07976770308.
