Old Caterhamians Ladies 46
St Francis Ladies 0
St Francis Ladies travelled to Caterham determined to fulfil their league fixture fielding a much weakened side.
Missing many key players, Saints started well but could not hold back a well drilled Old Cats team with the first couple of scores coming within minutes of the kick-off.
However, Saints dug in and fought back with some great defensive play, notably from outside centre Melanie Taylor disrupting the opposition back line tackling anyone who came her way.
The return of scrum half Amy Grantham added a great link between forwards and backs distributing fast ball among the side.
They created a number of decent opportunities to score but were unable to convert their attacking moves into actual tries.
Outstanding performances from veterans Deron Croft-Webb and Sonya Da Silva gave momentum and helped to pull the team along, by not giving in or letting their heads go down.
Saints’ next match is at home (Southgate Playing Fields) on Sunday, November 25 against Dover Ladies.
St Francis: Croft-Webb; Allcott; Reakes; Bennett; J.Taylor; Grisman; Grantham; Da Silva; Katey; M. Taylor; Clark; George
