Saints glad to be back as Nolan leads way to victory

Chichester IV 14

St Francis 39

St Francis won their first game in two weeeks in fine style, taking scrum half Ben Searle who made 20 metres before giving the ball back to Dave Nolan to go over for the first points of the game.

Five minutes later from an identical field position Nolan and Searle again worked together towards the home teams’ line with fly half Jude Harrison this time collecting the ball to claim the points which were then converted by Nathan Pawlak.

Saints kept up the pressure but started to become predictable by repeating the move that had already proved a success. The astute Chichester fly half intercepted the pass meant for Harrison and sprinted 40 metres to put the home side back in the game.

The uplifted spirit of Chichester was short lived when Saints hooker Aidie Perry kicked the visitors into a strong position just five metre from the tryline.

The resulting line-out eventually saw captain Nolan cross the line for his second taking the half-time score to 7–17.

Nolan completed his hat-trick and Searle made a weaving run through the defences and after several passes took the final ball and scored.

Saints winger Adam Tingley retrieved the ball from a long Chichester kick and made a 70m run to step inside the defence for his debut first team try of the season, converted by Pawlak.

After Chichester scored a try following a scrum-half, Saints quickly returned to the other end of the park and some good forward and back interaction enabled Perry to take the ball at pace for the final points of the day.
