CROSS-COUNTRY: Crawley AC were missing a few key runners at senior level and this meant that both Men’s and Women’s teams finished well down the field at the Sussex Cross Country Championshipos in Falmer, Brighton.

Neil Smith was the first Crawley man to finish in 33rd.

Sue Aldridge was the first Crawley AC lady home in 28th.

Although short in numbers for some of the younger age group teams, Tom Thayre and Ben Golding secured medals in what were good racing conditions.

Both boys started their races well. Tom in the Under-13s Boys 3km and Ben later on in the U17s Men 5km.

After a steady start they worked their way through the field and achieved good positions.

Golding used his sprint speed to hold off a challenge in the final few metres. For the girls, Georgie Little had another fine run to place seventh in the Under-15s Girls 4km event.
