As a special Christmas treat, here’s an end of the year Quite Tricky Sports Quiz to try as you munch on the last of those mince pies.

As a celebration of one of the best sporting years the country has ever enjoyed, all ten questions relate to what has been a fabulous 2012.

Question 7: Lionel Messi broke which lengendary striker’s record for most goals in a calendar year and what was that record?

Question 8: Earlier this month England cricket captain Alastair Cook hit a record 23rd Test century for his country. But which four English batsmen did he surpass on 22?

Question 9: Jess Ennis lived up to the hype by winning Olympic gold in the heptathlon. But which individual event did she win so convincingly that it would have been good enough for the gold medal four years before in Beijing?

Question 10: Who did Ronnie O’Sullivan beat in this year’s World Snooker Championship final and by what convincing score?
