Danny Waldren levelled the scores for the London side on 75 minutes after poor marking allowed him to sneak in.
Steve Evans let assistant boss Paul Rayner take charge of the team of the night, which was made up of trialists and fringe players.
Youth players Nick Carter and Minthun Nayee who signed full-time contracts in the summer, were given rare starts and did well against the Ryman League Division One side.
The bench included assistant boss Paul Raynor and striker Danny Mills, who was called up from Crawley's new Under-19 team.
Other trialists who played were defender Adam Green who had to replaced early in the game by fellow defender and trialist Thomas Mustapha.
Notably Simon Weatherstone captained the side as Steve Evans looks to find his skipper for the new season.
Raynor would have felt his team were unlucky not to win the game when Jon-Paul Pittman had a goal disallowed on the 88th minute for offside.
Crawley's next match is away to AFC Stamford on Saturday.
