FEROCIOUS winds ripped cladding from the side of a brand new block of flats on Tuesday (November 3) leaving an elderly woman badly injured.
Pedestrians and drivers watched in horror as heavy wood flew off Pegler Court leaving cars dented and the road strewn with debris around 1.10pm yesterday (Tuesday).

Cops sealed off the stretch of road outside Asda, blocking traffic and shoppers.

A passersby that ran to help the injured lady, who is in her 60s, was also injured.

Good Samaritan Paul Cleary injured his arm trying to help the woman.
His wife Yvette, 35, from Handcross, said: "My husband went to get out of the car and some of it fell on his arm.

"We just can't believe it, the rain was coming down, it was really, really windy and the next thing we knew we're getting our car bombarded by bits of masonry."
