A special Arts Council-commissioned song and open jam session will mark the finale of the South Coast Jazz Festival in Shoreham.

The event at Shoreham’s Ropetackle on Sunday, January 24, starting at 12pm, will be free entry.

Ropetackle spokesman Mark Phillips said: “The second South Coast Jazz Festival is fast approaching and as part of the final day celebrations on Sunday, January 24, we are delighted to announce a special, free open jam session and children’s choir performance will be taking place in the Ropetackle foyer from 12 midday.

“Opening the celebrations will be the Lewes Old Grammar School Show Choir from 12pm. As part of their set, this wonderful children’s choir will be singing a song written by festival curator and jazz star Claire Martin, and specially commissioned for the festival by Arts Council England.

“Following this the foyer will then open up for jam session where all are invited to participate in making and jamming music together. The session will be hosted by the Brighton Jazz School and led by the Wayne McConnell Trio.

“Last year’s jam session was a huge success, and this year is set to be even better. The cafe will be open for refreshments, and entry is free.”
