A WORTHING parking warden was punched in the back of the head and knocked unconscious by a cyclist.
The NCP Services warden fell to the ground after the attack on Monday, injuring his knee, and was taken to Worthing Hospital.
Police are appealing for witnesses to help them trace the attacker, who had a green and black bicycle, and approached the warden from behind in Tower Road, Worthing, at around 12.40pm.
Worthing's on-street parking services manager Mandy Ainsworth said no parking ticket was involved.
The attacker is described as white, in his early 40s, with dark hair. He was wearing sunglasses, a black fleece, grey combat trousers and white and black trainers.
She added: "Worthing Borough Council will not tolerate violence or abuse towards the civil enforcement officers. They are simply humans doing a job and we will support NCP Services in any prosecutions they are successfully able to pursue."
