Work started on Monday (October 27) to install a new crossing in South Farm Road, near Worthing High School.

The £45,000 scheme will also feature tactile paving to help visually impaired people.

The work is scheduled to take up to four weeks, weather permitting. It will be carried out Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm. Occasionally work may be carried out on Saturdays, from 8am to 1pm.

Temporary two-way traffic lights will be put in place for the duration of the works. They will be taken down, where possible, at the end of each working day.

On Monday, November 3, work will also start in install a puffin crossing in the A24 Findon Road, near Hillview Rise.

Costing £70,000, the work will be carried out Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm, though work along the carriageway itself will only take place between 9am to 4.30pm to keep disruption for peak hour traffic to a minimum.

The scheme is also expected to take up to four weeks.

Temporary two-way traffic lights will be in operation which, as far as possible, will be taken down at the end of each working day.
