Up-beat folk music as Suntrap visit club

ARUNDEL’S Willows Folk Club is looking forward to an evening of up-beat music from folk band Suntrap on Wednesday, March 30.

Spokesman Chris Davis said: “Over the course of the last decade, Suntrap have fast built up a reputation as one of the hottest acts on the folk scene.

“The band frequently dazzle audiences with their brilliant musicianship on a variety of different instruments, including guitar, accordion, harmonica, whistles and fiddles, carefully woven together to create a rich, full and exciting sound, and they’re particularly noted for their interweaving fiddle parts, showcasing the musicianship of Mary Wilson and newest member Elisa Bergersen.

“However, possibly the band’s greatest strength is their luscious vocal harmonies, veering from a powerful a cappella sound to harmonies so achingly beautiful as to take your breath away.

“Suntrap perform a mesmerising array of music including their own material and the best of the traditional and contemporary folk repertoire.

“The band’s songwriters, Sara Byers and Paul Hoad, create original, innovative works drawing on both the English song tradition and American folk and country.”

Entrance for Suntrap’s gig on Wednesday, March 30 is £5.

The Willows Folk Club meets every Wednesday at 8pm in the function room of Arundel Football Club, Mill Road, Arundel, situated to the rear of the large public car park opposite Arundel Castle.
