Conductor takes last Hastings bow

Hastings Philharmonic Choir, St Mary in the Castle. Saturday, June 16, 7.30pm.

This will be a particularly special concert, as the choir will be directed for the last time by charismatic conductor Hilary Davan Wetton.

Soloists Juliet Fraser and Johnny Herford are joined by counter-tenor John Lattimore in a programme of baroque masterpieces.

Two of Handel’s fine Coronation Anthems and Purcell’s royal ode Come Ye Sons of Art are most fitting for a Jubilee, and the concert starts joyfully with Boyce’s tuneful Fifth Symphony

Three further pieces from Purcell begin the second half in suitably reflective mood, for it will be a poignant occasion for both choir and audience as Hilary takes his leave of Hastings.

People can reserve tickets for this special farewell concert at the box office by ringing 01424 552119 or online at www.hastingsphilchoir.org.uk.

Tickets can also be bought from St Mary-in-the-Castle, Imagen Gallery, or Hastings Information Centre.
