D’Arcy delights at performingat church

Organist D’Arcy Trinkwon is relishing the thought of a concert in Horsham Parish Church on Friday, September 13, promoted by the Crawley and Horsham District Organists’ Association

“Originally built by the great Henry Willis in 1865, sympathetic restorations have preserved the beauty and refinement of its tone and its powerful impact,” he said.

“Other than at church services, it is very seldom ever heard or enjoyed; it’s an outstanding musical instrument.

“The concert has been organised by Crawley & Horsham District Organists Association (the local branch of the Incorporated Association of Organists).

“This is a small group of people dedicated to upholding the best traditions of organ music, and they are trying very hard to make the event a success by attracting as wide an audience as possible.

“Many people are fascinated by the organ and its music, yet few known where to get to hear it well done. CHDOA is a group which survives mainly by its members’ annual subscriptions, so there is not a lot of money!

“I am playing this concert as a benefit for them.”
