Dixielandtrad jazz backat club

Traditional jazz returns to Chichester Jazz Club with Goff Dubber’s Dixieland Express.

Club chairman Hugh Ashton said: “Reeds-player Goff’s earlier appearances at the club have been very popular. Not surprising, really, considering his versatile and long-praised musical technique and exciting delivery. He has appeared at venues across Britain and Northern Ireland, Europe, North America and the Middle East and excels in a variety of styles be they classic jazz, Dixieland, swing or mainstream.

“A long-held, if more bizarre claim to fame - along with Acker Bilk - is having one of the more unusual names for a clarinet player on the UK jazz scene.

“On the night, strong support will be given by Dixieland Express and its talented and experienced members, many of whom have played with some of the top names in jazz. All who hear the band play confirm that it really swings, and generates an authentic Dixieland and New Orleans atmosphere.”

The concert will take place at The Pallant Suite, South Pallant, Chichester on Friday, November 15 where the music starts at 7.45pm and doors open at 6.30pm. Advance tickets can be bought at Chichester’s TIC Office, The Novium, Tower Street or 01243 775888. More details on www.chichesterjazzclub.co.uk.
