Favourite artworks on show

This year’s Artwave Festival event at St Anne’s Galleries in Lewes is called From The Artist’s Studio.

Spokeswoman Sarah O’Kane said: “We have asked all our gallery artists to bring in their favourite artworks from the studio, alongside new pieces created especially for the event.

“Our showcase weekend will give visitors a chance to learn more about our artists, and browse work old and new. We are also creating a giant pinboard of photos, sketches, and mementoes which have helped inspire their art.”

St Anne’s Galleries in Lewes specialises in contemporary art by distinguished Sussex artists and works with a stable of fourteen painters, printmakers and sculptors all year round. This has allowed the gallery to develop a following for painters such as Mark Johnston, Nick Bodimeade, Jo Lamb, Tom Benjamin and Kate Montgomery. The gallery sculptor is Paul Amey and the printmaker is Kate Boxer. Based at St Anne’s House opposite Shelleys Hotel, the gallery is open by appointment but has a programme of public exhibitions throughout the year.

“There is no house style, as each artist is distinct and individual. From the Artist’s Studio should prove to be an interesting and eclectic mix of styles, subjects and prices.”
