Film Review: Spectre (9 out of 10)

The movie franchise that continues to guarantee bumper ticket sales and worldwide excitement is back again - and it’s another big success.

Only Star Wars really comes up to the same mark of pre-release hype and desire by audiences to be part of the packed-out audience.

For many it’s the one film in a year they bother going to see on the big screen.

And in Spectre you certainly get your money’s worth.

Within 148 minutes there’s drama, action, special effects and some pretty decent acting thank goodness.

Daniel Craig returns as Britain’s most famous spy, on the trail of a mysterious organisation that seem to have a link to his past.

Some of the more recent Bond movies have got a bit too bogged down in plot development - however this one has a clear path from beginning to end.

Ralph Fiennes is firmly in place as M, adding his excellent acting skills to an impressive cast that, along with Craig, includes Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Andrew Scott and Christoph Waltz.

Léa Seydoux is very good as ‘Bond girl’ Madeleine Swann. Thankfully the female roles these days involve a lot more than just looking good.

English director Sam Mendes returns after his Skyfall success, getting the most out of some spectacular locations.

As you’d expect the action is pretty full on, from the very opening scene that boasts some amazing footage.

Since Craig’s incarnation in the role the whole Bond franchise has led the audience back to the characters established in the earlier films. Spectre pretty much adds the final piece to the puzzle.

This may be a long-lasting franchise but it’s still in good hands and hopefully it’ll continue to blossom.
