Gags galore beforeaired at famousScottish festival

Four comedians preview their latest gags at the Connaught Studio in Worthing on July 25 and 26 before they take up residence at the Edinburgh Festival this August.

The Edinburgh Festival Previews see Ed Gamble and Mark Smith take to the stage together on July 25 followed by Tommy Rowson and Jarlath Regan on July 26 as both pairs of comedians hone their best material in the final days before this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Ed Gamble combines self-effacing charm and an endearing on-stage persona which have seen his career move from writing, performing and co-directing for the Durham Revue to touring extensively as Greg Davies’ support. He is the co-writer and host of the Chortle-nominated podcast Peacock and Gamble Podcast alongside Ray Peacock, has performed on Dave’s One Night Stand and Russell Howard’s Good News. Ed has also written for Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock The Week and Ask Rhod Gilbert. He makes his solo-show debut at the festival this year with Ed Gamble: Gambletron 5000.

Mark has been performing stand-up regularly since 2008 and since reaching the final of So You Think You’re Funny in 2009, has gigged all over the UK, is a regular MC and has broken into television to present for MTV2 and to write and perform for Dick and Dom’s Funny Business. He has previously performed in The Comedy Zone at the Edinburgh Festival and this year takes his show Mark Smith: The Most Astonishing Name in Comedy to the Scottish capital. He is also one half of double act Dregs alongside Max Dickins.

The second date of Edinburgh Festival Previews sees Tommy Rowson open the evening. He was a finalist in the 2011 Laughing Horse New Act competition and won So You Think You’re Funny later that year. He then performed as part of the AAA late night show at the Edinburgh Festival as well as The Comedy Zone which he also joins this year as well as presenting his new show One Piece at a Time.

Award-winning comedian, writer and star of Russell Howard’s Good News and The Panel, Jarlath Regan completes the two-day line-up. He has enjoyed sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival since 2007 and has been a finalist in both the BBC and Channel 4 New Comedy Awards.
