Horsham based landscape gardener scoops gold at the Chelsea Flower Show
He also received the prestigious ‘Best Fresh Garden’ award at this week’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.The garden named ‘Antithesis of Sarcophagi’ was created in collaboration with two of the UK’s leading letter carvers, Martin Cook and Gary Breeze.
Chris says that Antithesis of Sarcophagi represents a world turned inside out, civilisation versus nature,desolation versus life. Peer into the 15 ton cube of Granite through small fissures on the outside and you see a hidden woodland invisible from the exterior.

Hide AdHe added: “Ever since the gardening guru Monty Don described it on TV as ‘the most uplifting and inspiring thing he has ever seen at Chelsea’ interest in our creation has been incredible,visitors were queuing on Tuesday for 45 minutes to see inside the cube with the show due to get busier as the week progresses.
“Fortunately everyone seemed more than happy to wait and experience the little bit of magic inside,a case of delayed gratification as opposed to instant.
“The whole project has been incredibly hard work but hugely rewarding,a fantastic opportunity to see what creativity can come from mixing artists from different fields.
“Many thanks to The Plant company at Coolham for supplying us with plants in such great condition which stood up well to intense scrutinisation from the judges.”

Hide AdMeanwhile, a Horsham based landscaping business - Living Landscapes led by Director Tecwyn Evans - built The Pro Corda Garden: A Suffolk Retreat at the Chelsea Flower Show, which was awarded a Silver Medal by RHS judges yesterday.
The Pro Corda garden was designed by Chelsea Flower Show gold medalist Frederic Whyte, and aimed at creating a space for intimate music performance, or quiet reflection.
