House hosts Taming of the Shrew

Heartbreak Productions bring a wild and wacky version of the tale of Petruchio and Katharin to St Mary’s House and Gardens, Bramber, tonight (Friday August 5) at 7pm.

Their production of The Taming of the Shrew comes promised as robust entertainment, directed by Maddy Kerr.

Show spokeswoman Julia Donoghue said: “Everyone wants to marry Bianca, but Bianca isn’t free to marry until her shrewish sister Kate finds a husband. Through a series of introductions, the challenge of taming Kate falls to Petruchio and a battle of wills ensues.

“Heartbreak Productions celebrates 20 years in the open air by revisiting this hilarious comedy and setting it in a Berkshire country estate on July 3, 1928 – the day after the Reform Bill for Equal Franchise for Women had become law.

“So an altogether 1920s feel to the piece. We recommend you come with family, friends and a mouth-watering picnic, possibly even some wedding cake!”
