New Zealand-born violinist Alexandra Lomeiko performs with Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra
As spokesman Barry Cranford explains, music director Dominic Grier has waited a very long time to conduct the piece, a rare chance to hear live this “tremendous” Danish symphony.
“Written in 1910 after Nielsen’s tenure as bandmaster at the Danish Royal Opera House in Copenhagen, the symphony needs a very large orchestra together with soprano and baritone soloists in the second movement.

“The WPO again offer a concert appearance for a young talented soloist via the Munster Trust, and this concert features New Zealand-born violinist Alexandra Lomeiko who will perform the Beethoven Violin Concerto.
“Alexandra was born in 1991 into a family of musicians and started playing at the age of five.
“She came to England in 2006 and was awarded a scholarship, won many prizes and is currently a postgraduate student at the Royal College of Music.
