One of Britain’s best classical guitarists returns to Mayfield

International guitarist John Mills is set to return to Mayfield on Saturday, November 28 (4pm).

The musician is giving a guitar recital in Mayfield School Chapel in aid of Hospice in the Weald.

His programme will feature an appealing mix of music, including works by J.S.Bach, Haydn, Granados, Albeniz, Lauro and other baroque, classical, Spanish and Latin-American favourites.

All profits will go to the Hospice.

John is one of Britain’s finest classical guitarists and a performer of international repute, regularly touring overseas giving master-classes and concerts, as well as his many engagements in the UK. His busy teaching posts have included Head of Guitar at the Royal College of Music’s Junior Department, professorships at the Royal Academy of Music, London and the Nelson School of Music in New Zealand.

He was a Professor and Head of Department at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama until 2013 and Director of the annual International Classical Guitar Festival at West Dean College, Sussex.
