Patternsof nature

ELEMENTS, a new art exhibition at Stoneywish Nature Reserve, reveals the magical world of the hidden patterns of nature.

The paintings and drawings, which go on show on November 20 at Stoneywish Visitor Centre, Spatham Lane, Ditchling, are the work of Sussex artist Rosemary Pavey, and are inspired by her fascination with living landscapes.

When she is not recording the plants and wildlife at the Reserve, for the Stoneywish website, Rosemary works at her studio at the Turner Dumbrell Workshops at the north end of the village, producing scenes and still life studies that reveal the same eye for detail, and sense of wonder at the intricacies of the natural world.

She said: “In this exhibition a landscape might be a spectacular mountainside in a storm, or a tiny, unnoticed patch of leaf litter. Both share similar absorbing and ravishing contours and owe their forms to the dynamic energies that pulse throughout creation.”

The exhibition is open from November 20-21 and November 27-28, between 10.30am and 3.30pm. Admission is free, and visitors will be welcomed with complimentary tea and cake! A selection of the artist’s Sussex prints and cards will also be on sale. For more details, visit www.stoneywish.com.
