Last night I was treated to the magic of Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace in their current tour show The Last Tango.

As soon as the first notes of music could be heard I was smiling in anticipation, and just to confirm the mood of the performance the soloist Matthew Gent opened with “When you’re smiling” – who couldn’t? The story slowly began to unfold, the story of lost true love ending with their Last Tango.

The popular tunes, most of which you will recognise and even be tempted to sing along with take you through the years of their lives together.

You will be encaptured into the story itself and sit spellbound by the performance of Vincent & Flavia, supported by their excellent cast of singers and dancers.

The violinist Oliver Lewis, also gave a heartrending performance of the theme from Schindler’s list whilst the stars of the show glided through their story.

The stage setting was simple and effective as a major part of the story line, which looks back over the years since they first met, the feature songs poignant with their words. Vincent & Flavia’s performance was perfection, their faces and bodies portraying the mood of the dance building to a marvellous finale of their Last Tango.

If you ever wondered what an Argentinian tango equivalent to the sorba dance would be like – you must see this show.
