Show tohelp James

NEWLY-formed Worthing choir Colla Voce will be joined by West End guest performers in a show of shows on Sunday, October 17 at Worthing’s Pavilion theatre.

The event will help support a former Worthing Sixth-Form College student in an heroic attempt to raise money for charity by rowing across the Atlantic.

James Cash, who studied drama, physical education and English at A level in Worthing, will be taking part in the Atlantic Challenge 2011 and hoping to raise £250,000 for Facing the World, a UK-based charity which brings children with terrible facial disfigurements to England to receive life-changing surgery and care in British hospitals.

Worthing vocal coach and leader of Colla Voce, Mitch Jenkins, decided this was a great effort to support and will organise a collection and programme donation at the show Broadway To Bond which he is staging for one night only.

Mitch said: “I know James through his sister Chloe, who co–founded Colla Voce with me.

“This row seems such a huge undertaking on his part that dedicating the show to his effort seemed a small but hopefully-worthwhile contribution.”

James grew up in West Sussex, attending St Philip Howard High School and then Worthing Sixth Form College. He graduated with a BA Hons in drama from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and now works as a personal trainer in London.

“He will team up with West End, TV and movie actor Robert Portal, whom audiences may know as Richard Hannay in the West End production of The 39 Steps or from the hit TV political comedy In The Thick Of It. The pair will row 3,000 miles following Christopher Columbus’ route to the New World from the Canary Islands to Antigua.”

Following sell-out concerts last year, Broadway To Bond will be Colla Voce’s second major show. They will be joined by West End performers and dancers from Nicola Miles Theatre Studios. Tickets on 01903 206206.
