Soul ina lodge

AN evening of soul is being organised in aid of Chichester’s St Wilfrid’s Hospice, taking place at The Viking Lodge in Selsey on November 20.

Organiser John Graham said: “This will feature the phenomenal 11-piece soul review Lost For Words performing the hits of The Commitments, The Blues Brothers, Atlantic, Staxx and Tamla mountain. The band has reformed after 20 years following the death of the guitarist Mike Wroth’s dad last year.

“St Wilfrid’s Hospice made his last days as comfortable as possible and Mike wanted to do something to raise some money to thank them for their efforts. The band agreed to help.

“Subsequent to the original vocalist Kevin Boomer emigrating to Australia, Robert C Brookes has stepped forward to perform the lead vocals. He will be ably assisted by local mum Dawn Pelling and the excellent Hayling Island resident Jackie Bootman whose mum was the band’s biggest fan - as she keeps reminding me!

“Nigel Rippon, of Stone Cold, will be kindly performing Hammond and keys on the night. Karen Franks, Nick Trish, Mike Bosely and friends will make up the fat horn section.”

Trevor Robinson on bass and John Graham on drums make up the rhythm section.

John added: “The night will be incredible and should not be missed. Tickets are a very reasonable £10. All proceeds will go to St Wilfrid’s Hospice.”

Tickets from Hillfield Garage, Gilbert and Cleveland, The Fruit Basket and the Hospice shop.
