Sunday July 20, 10am: Meet at the field on Red Lane on the outskirts of Shipley village (TQ 145220). Shipley and Knepp Castle. A mid-summer stroll without undulations to revisit some familiar sights as well as discovering a secret from Shipley’s wartime past. 6½ miles. Please bring a snack. Wednesday July 16, 7.30pm: Meet at Ditchling Village Hall car park (122/TQ 326151). Circular walk in and around Ditchling. 4 miles. Leader: Barbara, 01273 844840.

Saturday July 19, 10.30am: Meet at the Thatched Inn, Keymer (122/TQ 314158). Please park in nearby roads if not using the pub. Celia’s Birthday Walk – Circular ramble via Ditchling from Keymer. 4 miles. Bus 33 from Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill. Optional refreshments in the Thatched Inn after the walk. Sunday July 20, 2pm: Meet at Dale Avenue long stay car park (not Budgens), Hassocks (122/TQ 308154). Hassocks circular walk to the south and west. Half Way House – Clayton – Coldharbour Farm – Danny Estate – Woodland Burial Ground – Butchers Wood – Hassocks. 6 miles. Meeting place is only five minutes walk from Hassocks Station. Tuesday July 22, 10.30am: Meet at East Dean car park, off the A259 (123/TV 558978). Seaford to East Dean linear walk. Bus stop for bus to Seaford – Seaford Head – Cuckmere Haven – (with the intention of wading the Cuckmere at low tide) – (P) – South Downs Way – Crowlink – Friston Church – Hobbs Eares – East Dean car park. 8 miles. Please bring a picnic lunch. Optional cream tea at the Hikers Rest and/or drink in the Tiger Inn after the walk. NB Please bring flip flops or crocs for wading the Cuckmere, as the bottom is very stony. No dogs please. Leader: Mike B, 07840 129042.

Saturday July 19, 9.30am: Meet at Whiteways Lodge car park (121/TQ 002108). Walk via Houghton Forest, Little Bottom Wood, Great Down, Eartham (L), Stane Street, Monarch’s Way, South Downs Way. 13½ miles undulating. Note: Walk may be shortened in adverse weather.

Sunday July 20, 10.30am: Meet at The Blue Ship pub, The Haven, between Five Oaks and Rudgwick (134/TQ 083305). Turn left off the A29, 500m north of the Five Oaks roundabout, then next left after one and a third miles. Park beyond pub on left hand side verge. Walk via Gibbons Mill, Malham, Newpound Common (L), Rowner Lock, Okehurst. 9½ miles over fields, river bank, mainly level.
