Sunday June 8, 10am: Meet at the rough parking area on A285 by St Mary’s Farm (at junction with Selhurstpark Road) (GR: SU 939120). “Not the SDW – just practising”. Lots of high level stuff including Crown Tegleaze, one of the highest points in Sussex, as we flirt with the South Downs Way in readiness for the annual walk. 8 miles. Gets a bit hilly. South Downs Way – Birling Gap – Belle Tout – Beachy Head – Eastbourne. A hilly walk with stunning views and a rewarding paddle in the sea at Eastbourne. The car park has a striped entrance pole and is situated on the east side of the road, 50 yards north of the Grove Lodge Roundabout. The roundabout carries both the A24 and A27. (121/TQ 141051). Walk via Rotary recreation ground. Charmandean Lane, Tenants way Hill, Cissbury Ring, Worthing Golf Club, Hill Barn Golf Club. Downland with one short climb. Note: A walk past a gate with a surprising tale to tell. 7 miles.

Walk via Broadreed Farm, Lumley Seat, Stansted Park, Holm Farm, Rowlands Castle (L), Finchdean, South Holt Farm, Westmarden Copse, West Marden. Note: A West Sussex walk with lunch in Hampshire. 12 miles gently undulating.

Wednesday June 11, 5.30pm: Meet in Devil’s Dyke Hotel car park (free to NT members) (122/TQ 258110). Walk via Dyke Hill, Devil’s Dyke, Poynings, Fulking, Fulking Hill, Dyke Hill. Note: A familiar but exhilarating walk for a June evening, Pubs along the way. 4½ miles of Downland with steep climbs up and down.
