The show is part of this summer’s inaugural Horsham Festival and marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare.

My Second Best Bed explores the possible reasons for the Bard’s now infamous and much-debated bequest to his wife Anne Hathaway and brings to life members of Shakespeare’s family, about whom very little is known.

This one-act production has been specially written for the festival by Barry Syder, who also wrote the script for Lights & Bushels’ version of Charles Dickens’ The Chimes earlier this year.

Performances are on Friday and Saturday, July 15-16. To complement this by-turns humorous and poignant piece, both evenings will start with a short concert of live period music performed by Emily Batchelor and friends, all within the intimate setting of Horsham’s Park Barn. Doors open at 8pm for drinks on the terrace.

Tickets are available from www.lightsandbushels.jimdo.com or by calling 07712 194117.

Lights & Bushels Theatre Company was formed by Barry Syder and Kathryn Attwood in 2015 with the aim of showcasing new writing by way of innovative productions in non- traditional settings in Horsham.
