The piece, which comes as part of the Market Theatre series, will be presented on Saturday, January 9, at 1pm in the Methodist Church Hall, Brunswick Road, Shoreham, with free tea, coffee and biscuits adding to the attractions.

Organiser Janet Behan explains: “Market Theatre exists to promote new writing for the theatre and to provide playwrights with an all-important deadline for that first draft, as well as an opportunity to hear their work performed. It has some exciting new projects in the pipeline for next year.

“January 9 sees the world premiere of Which One of You is Jesus Christ by Keith Massey. Based on real-life events, it explores the borders of identity and madness in a play that is both entertaining and thought-provoking.”

“February 13 sees the first public showing of Noreen, a one-woman play performed by Janet herself. Noreen, a character drawn from Janet’s own Irish roots, is a sometimes funny, sometimes sad piece about immigration and loneliness, Janet promises.

On March 12, Market Theatre will be presenting the second act of An Ideal Home: “The first act was performed to a very appreciative audience back in May 2014 and the writer hopes they’ll be pleased and surprised with the turn things have taken in this darkly humorous family drama.”

Janet added: “In April, there are plans afoot to present excerpts from a musical version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, performed by local children as part of Shoreham’s Shakespeare Celebrations. No dates set so far.

“As Shakespeare would have said, ‘more anon!’

“In May, at The Shoreham Centre, Market Theatre will present an evening of three one-act plays from the previous year with lighting, sound and costume.”

Market Theatre happens at the Methodist Church Hall at 1pm on Farmers’ Market days.

“The entrance fee is just £3 and there is no need to book. Turn up from 12.20pm for free tea, coffee and a chat. Stay afterwards to discuss the play with the playwright! All constructive criticism welcome!”

More information is available from Janet at [email protected] or by phone.
